Intranet Information
An intranet is a private network within an organization. Intranets use software and protocols similar to the Internet, but unlike the Internet is which accessible to the general public, intranets are for internal corporate use only. However, just like the Internet, intranets are used to share information. That information can range from corporate policies, to announcements and training resources. Intranets can also be used to manage project through tools such as task lists, calendars and bulletin boards. Many intranets support document management, which enables thousands of documents to be centrally located and shared. Finally virtual conferencing (webinars and webcasts) and instant messaging allow remote employees to participate in live meetings and discussions. |
